Why I Created Her
Fantasy has always been one of my favorite escapes, but I rarely saw Black characters portrayed with the same quiet magic as the elves, fairies, and woodland spirits I loved growing up.
So I drew one.
When I shared the drawing online, thousands of people connected with her. Seeing that response reminded me how many people were looking for fantasy art that felt both familiar and new.
